Job Description

The Pastry Chef is responsible for leading and managing the pastry kitchen, ensuring the production of high-quality desserts and baked goods. This role requires creativity, technical expertise, and leadership to deliver innovative menus, maintain consistent standards, and oversee the pastry team’s performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute pastry and dessert menus, including seasonal and specialty items.

  • Supervise daily pastry kitchen operations to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery.

  • Train, mentor, and manage the pastry team, fostering skill development and teamwork.

  • Ensure adherence to recipes, portion control, and presentation standards.

  • Manage food costs, inventory, and purchasing to achieve efficiency and minimize waste.

  • Oversee proper use and maintenance of pastry equipment.

  • Enforce compliance with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards.

  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure smooth coordination during service.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and introduce innovative pastry techniques and products.


Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, or related field (preferred).

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or senior pastry position in luxury hotels, fine dining, or high-volume operations.

  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate and sugar work, and plated dessert presentation.

  • Creative flair with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Solid understanding of cost control, menu engineering, and inventory management.

  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
