Job Description

We invite you to join the world of hospitality at Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire as our new Housekeeping Manager. The Housekeeping Manager supports the Housekeeping leadership team in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and guest satisfaction across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This leadership role focuses on operational excellence, team development, and quality assurance to maintain a consistently exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Support the Director of Housekeeping in overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping department, including guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
  • Coordinate daily staffing, room assignments, and operational priorities to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Monitor occupancy levels and adjust staffing and operational plans to meet service demands and guest expectations.
  • Ensure all housekeeping operations adhere to brand standards, service protocols, and departmental procedures.

Quality Assurance and Inspections

  • Conduct detailed inspections of guest rooms, suites, corridors, and public spaces to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and maintenance.
  • Ensure VIP rooms, loyalty guest rooms, and special requests are prepared and inspected to the highest standards prior to guest arrival.
  • Identify and resolve quality deficiencies through coaching, retraining, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Front Office teams to resolve maintenance concerns and room discrepancies promptly.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor the team to maintain service excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and training initiatives within the department.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance discussions, feedback sessions, and training initiatives to support colleague development.

Guest Experience and Service Excellence

  • Champion a guest-focused culture that prioritizes personalized service and attention to detail.
  • Address guest concerns or service recovery opportunities in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure guest privacy, comfort, and security are maintained throughout all housekeeping operations.

Administration and Financial Oversight

  • Assist in managing departmental budgets, labor productivity, and supply usage to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Monitor room productivity, cleaning times, and operational metrics to optimize efficiency.
  • Support inventory management, linen control, and procurement of housekeeping supplies.
  • Maintain accurate departmental documentation, reports, and communication logs.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Work closely with Front Office, Engineering, Laundry, and other operational departments to ensure seamless hotel operations.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings and communicate departmental updates effectively.
  • Ensure accurate room status communication between Housekeeping and Front Office teams.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Promote proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Support workplace safety initiatives and ensure colleagues follow established safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or Tourism preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive housekeeping experience within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Leadership training within hospitality operations and previous housekeeping management experience 
  • Experience in full-service or luxury hotel environments is highly valued.
  • Proficiency with Property Management Systems preferably Lightspeed
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced hotel operation with multiple room types or suites is an asset.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while conducting inspections and supporting operational activities throughout the hotel.
  • Physical stamina to move efficiently across multiple floors and hotel areas while maintaining attention to detail and supporting housekeeping teams during peak operational periods.
