Tesoro, the signature restaurant at Mövenpick Hotel Hobart, is looking for a passionate and hands-on Head Chef to lead the next chapter of our culinary story.
Located in the heart of Hobart, Tesoro celebrates Italian-inspired dining with the best of Tasmanian produce. Our menu is built around fresh, seasonal ingredients, simple but refined flavours, and a strong connection to local growers, makers and suppliers.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Chef, or a strong Senior Sous Chef ready to step up, to take ownership of a restaurant with personality, strong hotel support and the backing of Accor’s global hospitality network.
As Head Chef, you will lead the kitchen team, drive menu development, oversee restaurant and conference and events operations, and help shape a dining experience that is warm, memorable and distinctly Tasmanian.

What you will be doing as a Head Chef:
- Lead the culinary direction of Tesoro, with a focus on Italian-inspired food and premium Tasmanian produce
- Design and deliver seasonal menus that balance creativity, quality and commercial performance
- Lead, mentor and develop a capable and motivated kitchen team
- Oversee daily kitchen operations across restaurant service, breakfast, events and hotel activations
- Manage food costs, labour costs, supplier relationships and menu engineering
- Maintain strong food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
- Work closely with the F&B and hotel leadership teams to deliver memorable guest experiences
- Support conference and events through tailored menus and smooth execution
- Drive consistency, innovation and continuous improvement across the kitchen
About you
You are a calm, confident and creative kitchen leader who knows how to bring a team with you. You care about quality, consistency and culture, and you understand that a successful kitchen needs both strong standards and good energy.
You will bring:
- Experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality restaurant or hotel environment
- Strong knowledge of Italian cooking, ingredients and flavour profiles
- Experience with menu development, cost control and supplier management
- Confidence leading, training and developing a kitchen team
- Strong financial understanding, including food cost, labour management and menu performance
- A hands-on leadership style and the ability to stay composed during busy service
- Relevant culinary qualifications and food safety certification
- Current working rights in Australia
