Job Description

General Manager - Mercure Hurghada

Be an ambassador of the Mercure brand and the Hurghada property as General Manager, where your leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and strategic vision will drive an engaged team, exceptional guest satisfaction, and maximized operating results. You will bring your strong commercial and business acumen, and tenacity to drive revenue growth, exceed targets, and position the property as a premier 4-star resort destination in the Red Sea marketplace.

You will be responsible for:

Leading the Business

 

  • Direct the overall management and strategic direction of the resort property, ensuring all departments achieve operational and financial targets aligned with Mercure brand standards
  • Maximize property profitability through effective financial management, revenue optimization across all outlets and services, and rigorous cost control
  • Ensure full compliance with operating controls, health and safety regulations, and local Egyptian legislation across all business areas
  • Oversee integrated resort operations—including guest services, food and beverage, rooms, recreation, and beach facilities—to deliver a cohesive, premium leisure experience

 

Building and Engaging Your Team

 

  • Lead recruitment and selection initiatives to attract and retain top talent aligned with Mercure standards and property culture
  • Champion employee engagement and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment where team members are empowered to contribute, develop, and excel
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the local Hurghada community and stakeholder network to enhance the property's market position

 

Driving Service Excellence and Brand Identity

 

  • Maintain premium product and service quality standards that consistently exceed guest expectations, driving positive reviews, loyalty, and repeat business
  • Promote and embody the Mercure brand identity, ensuring all brand essentials, standards, and guest experience protocols are executed consistently throughout the resort
  • Lead strategic initiatives that enhance the resort's reputation as a premier leisure destination in Hurghada and the Red Sea region

 


Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

Required Experience:

 

  • Minimum 5+ years in a General Manager or senior leadership role within a 4-star hotel, resort, or similar hospitality business
  • Proven track record of leading multi-departmental teams and driving operational excellence across guest services, food and beverage, rooms, and recreation
  • Demonstrated success in financial management, revenue optimization, and delivering against KPIs and profitability targets
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and compliance regulations in hospitality operations

  • Strategic business acumen with the ability to develop and execute long and short-range financial objectives aligned with brand strategy
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with proven ability to inspire, engage, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial mindset with demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and maximizing property profitability
  • Passionate about building and nurturing talent, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to effectively engage with guests, team members, owners, and community stakeholders
  • Brand ambassador mentality with commitment to maintaining premium service standards and Mercure brand identity
  • Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving abilities and strong business judgment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with Accor brands or similar international hotel chains
  • Experience managing resort properties in the Middle East or similar leisure destinations
  • Familiarity with Egyptian hospitality market and local business practices
