Job Description

  • Install and commission kitchen and laundry equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards across guest-facing and back-of-house areas.

  • Ensure the proper setup, alignment, and connection of kitchen appliances (e.g., ovens, steamers, fryers, dishwashers) and laundry equipment (e.g., washers, dryers, presses).

  • Conduct routine maintenance, including checking electrical connections, cleaning components, and testing equipment for proper operation.

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend the life of kitchen and laundry systems and machinery.

  • Carry out scheduled inspections to ensure all equipment is functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational standards.

  • Diagnose technical issues with kitchen and laundry systems, including mechanical, plumbing, or electrical faults, and apply corrective measures.

  • Execute repairs such as replacing motors, heating elements, sensors, solenoid valves, and other essential parts to maintain reliable operation.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize impact on kitchen or housekeeping operations.

  • Respond promptly to urgent service requests, especially during high-demand periods such as peak dining hours or laundry service times.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations while working in food preparation and laundry areas.

  • Safely handle tools, spare parts, and cleaning agents, ensuring proper usage and storage in line with safety protocols.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, using the correct tools and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Report significant repair needs or potential equipment replacements to the Engineering Supervisor for planning and approval.

  • Keep an accurate record of maintenance work, including repairs and part replacements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the Engineering Department and the broader goals of the property.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or appliance repair is preferred.

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment, ideally within a hospitality or large-scale commercial environment.

  • Strong technical knowledge of kitchen appliances (e.g., ovens, dishwashers, fryers) and laundry equipment (e.g., washers, dryers, ironing systems), including both electrical and mechanical components.

  • Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults in equipment efficiently and safely.

  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment relevant to kitchen and laundry systems.

  • Understanding of safety protocols, hygiene standards, and regulatory compliance related to food service and laundry operations.

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
