    Job Description

    Receiving Clerk 

    Receiving Clerk, oversees daily operations of the hotel’s Stores and Receiving, ensuring efficient procurement, accurate inventory control, and compliance with purchasing and safety standards. Builds strong internal and external relationships, manages costs, and leads the storeroom team to support smooth hotel operations and uphold company values.

    • Establish a professional business relationship with all internal & external clients
    • Ensure a smooth and efficient functioning of the day-to-day operations of the stores department
    • Proactive monitoring and assisting with improvement to food & beverage costs
    • Ordering of food, beverage, stationary, first aid stock and other purchases through a computer application-based procurement system to maintain par levels
    • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders (POs) for accuracy using web-based procurement software, following up on any discrepancies as needed
    • Oversee ordering of all food, beverage, dry goods (in coordination with the Executive Chef) and stationary supplies in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Track all inventory transfers between storerooms and departments using Birch Street procurement/ inventory software.
    • Accurate Inventory are conducted to ensure timely order fulfilment
    • Purchasing standards are strictly implemented
    • Lead month end inventory counts: plan, execute, and verify monthly inventory counts in hotel areas using a web based procurement/inventory database.
    • Track and secure accounting documents in storage according to company policies and tax laws
    • Follows food safety standards when receiving food items, and completes receiving records
    • Responsible for ensuring that all deliveries of WHMIS controlled products are accompanied by updated SDS sheets and the Hotel Master Binder is up to date.
    • Provide training, development and leadership to the Storeroom and Receiving team

    Qualifications

    • Minimum 2 years recent experience as a store person or an equivalent position with experience in inventory or stock control or 6 months as a supervisor in a stores department of a hotel of a similar size and standard
    • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Work, excel etc)
    • Ability to effectively understand the varying business levels and implement decisions with a high level of attention to detail
    • Purchasing & receiving experience would be an asset
    • Supervisory experience would be an asset
    • Execute multiple tasks within strict deadlines 
    • Food, Beverage & Operating Supplies product knowledge
    • Proven history of working well with minimal supervision
    • Demonstrated accounting and inventory control
    • Fluent English language skills; both written and verbal
    • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills
    • Demonstrated team player with proven success in relationship building
    • Demonstrated a high level of responsibility and commitment
    • Demonstrated knowledge of safe working procedures
