Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

1st) Learning

  1. Knowing the product
  2. Discovering the market
  3. Study the competition
  4. Consultation – local convention bureaus, local hotel and other associations, government tourist office, airlines, travel agents, tour operators.
  5. Determination and maintenance of a workable budget and recommendation for most productive allocation of funds; direct mail, advertising, sales trips, entertaining, etc..
  6. Sales forecasting.

2nd) Doing

  1. Increasing the average expenditure per guest.
  2. Increasing double occupancy
  3. Increasing average room rate.
  4. Increasing business volume during off-season periods.
  5. Sales promotion: Both Rooms & F&B; promoting FIT; convention and tour groups business; Sales meeting; banquets; cocktail receptions; etc.

Specific: Director of Sales & Marketing will:

  1. Set up appropriate filing systems of existing and potential accounts, keeping up to date and properly categorized.
  2. Research the market on a continuing basis .. to determine where business comes from, how it is influenced, who the hotel clients are, how they normally arrive in the locations, etc..
  3. Establish, maintain and use his library of reference materials, periodicals, texts and sales leads: stay abreast of market trends and hotel selling techniques.
  4. Develop annual marketing plan and plan-week to – week sales activities.
  5. Prepare annual sales goals: develop working plans to carry out goals; compare actual achievements against goals; periodically take necessary corrective action.
  6. Go on sales trip to promote and solicit business for the hotels.
  7. Maintain within the community and in neighboring marketing areas, contacts with airlines, travel agents, commercial houses, private clubs, professional associations, etc.. to procure new business and repeat business for hotels.
  8. Review recommendations to the operations director for local and international advertising campaigns: media, selection, timing, copy, etc suggest expenditures for direct mail programs, special promotions, estimate costs of anticipated sales departmental expenses.
  9. Direct, supervise and administer all personnel within the sales department.
  10. Submit monthly and weekly sales plans and market analysis ( Monthly) as well as daily sales/activity reports which will also include persons entertained for sales purposes.
  11. The DOS&M will submit monthly sales activity report to the Operations Director to include all new business booked during that month.
  12. A monthly sales meeting will be held to include the unit General Managers.
  13. Perform duties common to all supervisors and other duties as may be assigned.
  14. The DOS&M is administratively and functionally responsible to the Operations Director.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:
Relevant sales experience is an asset
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Highly responsible & reliable
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
