The Director of Engineering is responsible for overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations across the resort to ensure exceptional guest experiences, safety, and brand standards. This includes preventive and corrective maintenance, energy management, facility upgrades, and ensuring compliance with Sofitel/Accor standards and local regulations.

The role provides strategic leadership to the engineering team, ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and sustainability initiatives while supporting the overall business objectives of the resort.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering & Maintenance Operations

• Oversee daily operations of engineering, maintenance, and technical teams to ensure smooth resort functioning.

• Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs for all buildings, equipment, and utilities.

• Ensure timely repair and resolution of technical issues in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.

• Maintain a high standard of luxury property aesthetics and functionality in line with Sofitel brand standards.

2. Team Leadership & Development

• Recruit, train, and develop engineering staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.

• Conduct regular performance appraisals, coaching, and mentoring for the engineering team.

• Promote a safety-first and service-oriented culture across the department.

3. Health, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local safety regulations, fire codes, environmental regulations, and Accor/Sofitel standards.

• Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and safety drills.

• Implement and maintain energy, water, and sustainability programs in alignment with Sofitel’s environmental initiatives.

4. Capital Projects & Facility Upgrades

• Plan and oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and upgrades to facilities and equipment.

• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and vendors for project execution within budget and timelines.

• Evaluate new technologies and innovations to enhance operational efficiency and luxury guest experience.

5. Budget & Cost Management

• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including operating and capital expenses.

• Monitor energy usage, maintenance costs, and vendor contracts to optimize cost efficiency.

• Implement measures to reduce wastage, improve energy efficiency, and control maintenance expenditures.

6. Guest & Brand Focus

• Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities support a luxury guest experience.

• Respond promptly to guest feedback and technical issues, maintaining high satisfaction scores.

• Uphold Sofitel brand standards across all facilities, equipment, and engineering services.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in engineering management, with at least 5 years in luxury hotels/resorts.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and facility management systems.

• Experience managing large teams, budgets, and capital projects.

• Excellent communication skills both in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with Sofitel/Accor brand standards and sustainability initiatives is a plus.
