For corporate events and local galas, the hotel features 3,500 square meters of function space, including a 1,200 square-meter Grand Ballroom.


Job Description

Director of Catering & Conference Services

As a Director of Catering & Conference Services, you are a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering and conference services within Fairmont Jakarta. You will report to Director of Sales & Marketing and lead a team of professionals to ensure the flawless execution of events, conferences, and banquets, while maintaining the highest standards of service excellence. You will collaborate closely with various departments to create memorable experiences for guests and clients, while driving revenue growth and profitability.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Employment will be under local contract. Open for Indonesian citizen only.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive catering and conference services business, in alignment with the hotel's overall objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of catering and conference services professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure exceptional performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners to drive repeat business and referrals.
  • Oversee the coordination and execution of all events, conferences, and banquets, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities, create compelling proposals, and participate in client presentations.
  • Manage the catering and conference services budget, monitoring expenses, and revenue generation to achieve financial targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide ongoing training and development opportunities, and address any performance issues within the team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as hotel policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal departments, effectively communicating client needs, preferences, and special requests.
  • Uphold the hotel's reputation for exceptional service by resolving any guest complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in catering and conference services management, preferably in a luxury hotel environment.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth, achieving financial targets, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office and event management systems.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the demands of the role.
  • Certification in event planning or catering management is a plus.
  • A passion for hospitality and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of quality and professionalism.
