We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Demi Chef De Partie - Halwai to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. In this role, you will work under the guidance of our Chef de Partie to prepare authentic Indian confectionery and traditional sweets. You will be responsible for executing halwai techniques with precision while maintaining the highest standards of food quality and kitchen hygiene. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in traditional Indian sweet-making within a professional kitchen environment.
- Prepare and execute a variety of traditional Indian sweets and confectionery items according to established recipes and quality standards
- Assist the Chef de Partie in managing the halwai station and ensuring efficient workflow during service
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols at all times
- Organize and maintain mise en place for all confectionery preparations
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure timely and accurate preparation of all desserts and sweets
- Monitor ingredient quality and communicate any concerns regarding stock or supplies
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain proper care and cleanliness of all tools and stations
- Support inventory management by tracking ingredient usage and assisting with stock rotation
- Continuously refine plating and presentation techniques to meet restaurant standards
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff on halwai techniques and food safety practices
- Respond to feedback from the Chef de Partie and implement improvements in preparation methods
- 2-3 years of professional experience in a confectionery or pastry kitchen environment
- Demonstrated expertise in traditional Indian sweets and halwai preparation techniques
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards in commercial kitchens
- Proficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment and tools used in confectionery preparation
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced kitchen setting
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen team
- Clear communication skills and receptiveness to feedback and coaching
- Attention to detail with a commitment to consistency and quality in all preparations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a warm kitchen environment
- Preferred: Experience working under a Chef de Partie or senior pastry chef
- Preferred: Knowledge of modern pastry techniques combined with traditional methods
- Preferred: Experience with ingredient sourcing and quality assessment
