2023 sees The Hoxton take on Europe! We’re popping up in some of our favorite cities and we’ve opened our first hotel in Germany in the city of culture and creativity, Berlin. We are now looking for an experienced Controller to join our team.

Our first Hoxton in Germany is home to 234 bedrooms of varying sizes, a ground floor restaurant and bar, coffee bar and streetside terrace and The Apartment – our unique meetings and events concept. Our restaurant is the meeting of a North Indian communal eatery and a classic European cuisine. It brings together the characteristics of these two traditional restaurants - the tandoor ovens, Indian spices and marinades, select prime cuts of meat, and buzzing atmosphere.

Reporting to our Director of Finance, you will be you will be responsible to assist in managing the day-to-day operations of Accounting.

Job Description

What you’ll do…

  • Join the Finance team in the pre-opening phase that will be responsible for ensuring finance systems and processes are in place for a successful launch of the hotel
  • Playing a vital role in the month end processes for the hotel, ensuring that the hotel closes the books on time and accurately each and every month
  • Oversee the financial day-to-day for the hotel, including managing revenues (and any variances), accounts payable and payroll provider – all of this whilst working closely with Finance Director
  • Oversee our financial processes, keeping an eye on how we can improve ways of working.
  • Participate in monthly reporting, taking on our month-end process that incorporates P&Ls, Balance sheet and cashflow.
  • Making sure that we keep on the right track with finance policies & procedures
  • Develop the team, creating an environment where they can be themselves and can feel the value they’re adding. 
  • Support your business partners in building accurate and timely their activities.
  • Play a crucial role in making sure the hotel run efficiently without compromising our overall goal of providing a fantastic guest experience

Qualifications

What we’re looking for…

  • 3-5 years hotel finance experience.
  • Understanding of the basic accounting functions.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills coupled to strong Excel skills; intermediate to advanced level.
  • Someone with a hands-on, outgoing, pro-active approach; taking personal responsibility and initiative to prevent or resolve problems
  • Knowledge of German accounting and taxation
  • A balance between a methodical and process-driven approach and flexibility and creativity when it comes to meeting deadlines and finding solutions.
  • You’re looking for a place where you can be you; no clones in suits here.
