The Commis – Arts Café supports the culinary operations of the Arts Café kitchen by assisting in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness within the kitchen area. Working under the guidance of senior chefs, this position helps prepare ingredients, perform basic cooking techniques, and assist in the execution of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards. The role contributes to ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operations of the outlet’s kitchen.
In this role, the Commis – Arts Café supports the culinary team in delivering consistent, high-quality dishes while maintaining proper hygiene, organization, and food safety standards. The position provides valuable hands-on experience for aspiring chefs to develop their culinary skills, learn from experienced professionals, and contribute to the overall dining experience of guests through dedication, attention to detail, and a passion for quality cuisine
- Education: A culinary education, such as a diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Culinary Knowledge: Basic understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment. Familiarity with various cuisines and cooking styles is beneficial.
- Experience: Previous experience in a professional kitchen, including internships or entry-level kitchen roles, is preferred but not mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Basic knife skills, ability to follow recipes accurately, and familiarity with fundamental cooking techniques. Good time management and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are important.
- Hygiene and Food Safety: Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling and kitchen cleanliness practices.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift kitchen supplies when required, and perform tasks in a busy kitchen environment.
- Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively within a team, follow instructions from senior chefs, and maintain positive communication with colleagues.
