Commis supports the culinary operations of Arts Cafe by assisting in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness. As a Commis, the individual plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the kitchen. They work under the guidance of senior chefs and are responsible for executing basic cooking techniques, preparing ingredients, and assisting in the creation of dishes. The position provides an opportunity for aspiring chefs to gain hands-on experience, develop their culinary skills, and learn from experienced professionals. The Commis contributes to the overall culinary excellence of the hotel by demonstrating a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality cuisine.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a culinary program or certification in culinary arts is an advantage.
 - Culinary Knowledge: Solid foundation in basic culinary techniques, food preparation, and the use of kitchen equipment. Familiarity with various cooking styles and cuisines is preferred.
 - Experience: Previous experience in a professional kitchen is an asset. Entry-level experience through internships or apprenticeships is valuable for developing essential kitchen skills.
 - Skills: Strong knife skills, mastery of basic cooking methods, and accuracy in following recipes. Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, time management, and the ability to perform well under pressure.
 - Hygiene and Safety: Comprehensive understanding of food safety and hygiene standards. Must be knowledgeable in safe food handling, sanitation procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
 - Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and handle repetitive tasks. Good physical endurance is required to meet the demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment.
 - Teamwork and Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset. Must be able to follow directions from senior chefs and contribute positively to the kitchen team.
