Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Business Development Executive will drive revenue for Novotel and ibis Melbourne Central, with a strong focus on MICE and group business and partnering with existing suppliers (such as PCO’s & TMC’s )

This role combines proactive business development and reactive sales, managing incoming enquiries while actively identifying and securing new opportunities within the meetings, conferences, events and group segments. You will build strong client relationships, convert enquiries into confirmed business, and contribute to achieving the hotels’ revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage reactive MICE and group enquiries, preparing proposals and converting opportunities into confirmed business
  • Proactively source new MICE, group and event opportunities through prospecting and networking
  • Conduct sales calls, client meetings and site inspections to build strong relationships and generate business
  • Work closely with Conference & Events and Reservations teams to ensure smooth handover of confirmed bookings
  • Maintain accurate sales activity and client information within the CRM system
  • Provide market and competitor insights to support the sales strategy
  • Represent the hotels at industry events and networking opportunities

What you need to be successful

  • Previous hotel sales or hospitality industry experience, preferably within MICE or groups
  • Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisation and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems

The ideal candidate is driven, proactive and results-focused, with a passion for building relationships and converting opportunities into business.
