    Job Description

Your vision and leadership as Assistant Director, Conference Services and Catering will ensure an engaged team, efficient operations, and offerings that exceed the expectations of every client.

    Competitive Salary: $100,000-$106,000 gross annually, based on previous experience & education

    Job Duties Include:

    Reporting to the Director of Conference Services, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:   

    • Lead a team of 2 Conference Service Managers (Weddings), 4 Conference Services Coordinators and 1 Conference Concierge.
    • Responsible for handling large conferences, from the time a contract becomes definite to execution, assuring excellence in service delivery and revenue optimization.
    • Assist in developing innovative event offerings following event industry trends that create optimal guest experiences and new revenue opportunities.
    • Assist the Director of Conference Services in attending, Morning Ops Meeting, Department Head Meeting and Credit Meeting.
    • Chair when necessary weekly conference resume meetings.
    • Assist in directing and managing all activity related to the conference services office, ensuring all service standards are followed.
    • Assist in the preparation and execution of the annual budget and business plans.
    • Establish and maintain rapport with clients, prior to, during and post conference, exceeding their expectations and encouraging repeat business
    • Conduct site inspections as required.
    • Ensure that function bookings, group resumes, event contracts and banquet event orders are prepared and distributed accurately and efficiently
    • Work closely with the Director of Conference Services  to prepare monthly and weekly forecasts
    • Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needs
    • Follow departmental policies and procedures
    • Drive function space optimization/maximization to ensure the best utilization of space for guest experience and financial performance.
    • Onboard new team members.
    • Lead training and recruitment efforts.
    • Follow all safety policies.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Your Skills & Qualifications:

    • Previous leadership experience within a similar role required
    • Computer literate in Microsoft applications and relevant computer applications required 
    • University/College degree in a related discipline as asset.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
    • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
    • Highly responsible & reliable
    • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
    • Proactive, detail oriented, and able to work collaboratively across teams to drive results and deliver memorable experiences
