Job Description

Stewarding Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of the stewarding team to ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and facilities. This role ensures that health and safety standards are maintained in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. 

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the stewarding department, ensuring efficient cleaning of kitchen areas, dishes, pots, pans, and equipment.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of back-of-house areas, including kitchens, dishwashing areas, storage rooms, and loading docks.

  • Ensure proper handling and maintenance of cleaning equipment and chemicals, in compliance with safety standards.

  • Schedule and allocate tasks to stewards, ensuring adequate staffing based on operational needs.

  • Train new team members on safe cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and departmental protocols.

  • Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment; place orders or request replenishment as needed.

  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and stewarding areas to ensure sanitation standards are upheld.

  • Prepare shift reports and assist with department budgeting or cost control measures as directed.

  • Support waste management and sustainability initiatives by enforcing recycling and composting protocols.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional hospitality or culinary education is a plus.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of stewarding experience in a hotel, resort, or large-scale food service operation, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Knowledge of HACCP and general food safety standards.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
