Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef specializing in Pan Asian cuisine to join our culinary team in Kathmandu, Nepal. As the Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests while supporting the Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations.

  • Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and maintaining high culinary standards
  • Create and develop innovative Pan Asian menu items, incorporating local and seasonal ingredients
  • Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency meet restaurant standards
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Assist in inventory management, cost control, and budget adherence
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
  • Participate in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing
  • Stay current with culinary trends and techniques in Pan Asian cuisine

Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, preferably in high-volume restaurants or hotels
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in various Pan Asian cuisines, including Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese
  • Proficiency in Pan Asian cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proven experience in menu planning, recipe development, and food costing
  • Proficient in kitchen management systems and inventory control
  • Valid food safety certification
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of Nepali is a plus
  • Creativity and passion for culinary innovation
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
