Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager, Finance & Business Support is responsible for ensuring the Accounting Department operates smoothly and efficiently while adhering to standards required by corporate policies. In addition, includes responsibility for overseeing the Cash Function, AP/AR functions & Income audit.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory and internal reporting requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly forecasts, budgets, and financial plans
  • Monitor the timely completion and distribution of daily in-house reports, including Food & Beverage, Rooms Segmentation, Flash, and Labour reports
  • Assist in reconciling and monitoring all balance sheet accounts in accordance with Fairmont and corporate accounting policies
  • Prepare and review monthly journals and support month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Support the planning and execution of month-end deadlines and financial schedules
  • Ensure effective use and understanding of all hotel operating and financial systems, including Financial Systems, MyLegacy, PMS, Silverware, IMS, and Excel
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality while safeguarding company assets
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of professionalism, accuracy, and service excellence

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ hotel accounting experience at a supervisory or managerial level
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a finance team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong working knowledge of GFS SunSystems, OPERA PMS, MyLegacy, Silverware POS, and Microsoft Excel
  • Enrollment in or completion of a professional accounting program (ACCA or CPA) is considered an asset
