Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Duties

  • Greet and welcome guests, assist with enquiries and restaurant bookings.
  • Assist guests with menu offerings and maximise sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling.
  • Effectively take orders and ensure accuracy by repeating order(s) to the guests.
  • Input orders promptly ensuring the kitchen can fulfill their duties effectively.
  • Ensure that dockets are written clearly and correctly for inputting into the POS (point of sale) system.
  • Check ordered meals on collection from kitchen and deliver to guests promptly to maintain temperature and appearance; ensure items are announced.
  • Be knowledgeable of and operate within the Food Safety Program (e.g. Awareness of allergies and dietary requirements)
  • Maintain hygienic food service techniques at all times.
  • Maintain clean and neat presentation of bar and restaurant area(s), following set opening, closing and daily procedures.
  • Take responsibility for your designated section and station.
  • Promptly answer the telephone and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling.
  • Involved in the service of a variety of functions and events.
  • Setup and reset specific Conference & Function activities as directed.
  • Be knowledgeable of and operate within appropriate outlet and hotel liquor licensing guidelines and House Management Policies.
  • Maintain currency of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification, amendments and updates and adhere to RSA principles. Notify your manager/supervisor if you require assistance.

  • Take responsibility to ensure all required tasks are completed accurately and within given time frames
  • Participate in scheduled training and development programs provided by Accor
  • Abide by the Accor policies in relations to equal employment opportunity and harassment in the workplace

  • Abide by all Accor policies with special note of Accor primary policies and the Competition and Consumer Act Policy
  • Attend and contribute to team and departmental meetings

  • Ensure Hotel, Customer and Employee information or transactions are kept confidential during or after employment with the company
  • Follow Company procedures with respect to grooming, performance and conduct standards, workplace health and safety, emergency procedures and all other property policies and procedures as detailed in the team member handbook, department procedure manuals and company policy manuals
  • Any other reasonable tasks requested by your manager.

Main Complexity/Critical issues in the Job

  • Practicing Responsible Service of Alcohol to Guests
  • The physical aspects of the role which include but are not limited to; standing, walking, lifting and carrying, squatting, pushing, pulling, gripping, occasional ascending or descending of stairs.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Customer service experience or experience in a similar environment
  • An awareness of food safety practices preferred.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.
