Job Description

Reporting to the Hotel Accountant and ultimately the Director of Finance, we are currently seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Finance Team as a Finance Officer. 

In this role you will -

  • Maintain and ensure the completion of general administration including filing
  • Completion of various daily, weekly and monthly and month end reporting, for internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform reviews on Day Packs for completeness and accuracy
  • Maintain and review Systems User Access Rights ensuring timely termination from system
  • Perform and assist with functional financial and non-financial audits including FOCUS Guidelines for Front Office Food & Beverage, Finance, Payroll, internal and external audits and stock takes including food, beverage, etc.
  • Cashiering and banking as required including periodic cash handling and counting of floats and cash machine and reconciliation between Opera, Shiji, cash and General Ledger
  • Petty Cash reconciliation and coding into General Ledger
  • Maintain Hotel Contract listing and follow up on insurance certificates etc. Work with Department Heads to ensure that renewal of contracts
  • Assist with Month End processes including preparing and uploading journals, reviewing and completing Bank and Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Carry out training for Departments and their Team Members including
  • Perform reviews and adhoc analysis
  • Maintenance of archiving of Hotel Financial & Non-Financial records
  • Assist and prepare BAS for review and approval
  • Set up new Suppliers / Vendors in Sun System
  • Carry out any other Finance duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Support Hub Finance based in Sydney from Hotel in Brisbane. Hub Finance comprising Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll. 
  • Respond to change in the Departmental Function as directed by the Hotel.
  • Any other duties as designated by the Hotel Accountant and/or Assistant Financial Controller &  Director of Finance
  • Cashiering/Folios, Shiji POS, Purchase + as and when required

Qualifications

  • Working in an Accounts role or similar 
  • A recognised University Degree in Accountancy would be advantageous
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with Head of Departments via Teams, telephone and email, as well as in person
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
