Job Description

The Director, Transient Sales will have the unique opportunity to lead strategic initiatives to drive transient business performance for Fairmont Southampton, a world-renowned resort in Bermuda. This pivotal role oversees the development, execution, and optimization of sales strategies targeting the leisure transient segment, including Luxury Consortia, Travel Advisors, OTAs, and Wholesale partners. Core mandate: be the sales engine and external face of our relaunch, reintroducing Fairmont Southampton to the market, rebuilding advisor confidence, accelerating brand awareness, and converting demand across key leisure channels.

Reporting to the Area Director of Sales & Marketing, this leader may be based on property in Bermuda or remotely in-market (aligned to AST time zone). The role will lead a team (1–3 direct reports) and manage co-op/marketing budget authority for trade and OTA.

Strategic Sales Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic transient sales plans to maximize revenue and market share; own delivery of the annual transient room revenue budget, ADR, channel mix %, CAC, and forecast accuracy (±3–5 pts).
  • Develop the strategic plan and complete the appropriate Luxury Consortia RFPs (e.g., Virtuoso, FHR, Signature, Internova, Ensemble), including amenities and marketing calendars.
  • Plan and publish a rolling calendar of trade and consumer offers with buy-in from the REVMAX Team; ensure distribution readiness and results (rate architecture and policies, content quality and syndication, and rate parity) with ongoing optimization of metasearch/OTA media and ROAS.
  • Identify emerging trends, markets, and partnerships to drive profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with the Area Director of Sales & Marketing to align transient strategies with the resort’s overall business objectives.

Account & Partnership Management

  • Build and nurture relationships with key luxury consortia, travel advisors, and OTA partners.
  • Negotiate preferred agreements, rate structures, and marketing partnerships to enhance visibility and conversion.
  • Represent Fairmont Southampton at global travel trade events, luxury sales missions, and client engagements.

Team Development & Performance

  • Lead, coach, and inspire 1–3 direct reports to achieve revenue goals.
  • Establish clear objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics; monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Manage co-op/marketing budget authority; track spend vs. demand impact with clear KPIs.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Revenue, Reservations, and Operations to align messaging, offers, and on-property readiness.
  • Foster a culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Revenue Optimization & Analysis

  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to ensure optimal pricing, inventory allocation, and distribution strategies.
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitor performance to inform proactive business decisions.
  • Maintain a clean CRM; perform lost-business and parity/content root-cause analysis; action quick fixes to protect conversion.
  • Oversee promotional offers and value-adds that stimulate shoulder periods and drive incremental bookings with measurable ROI/ROAS.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Reservations, and Operations to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives.
  • Ensure product storytelling, imagery, and benefits reflect the renovation and Beach Club appeal across all channels.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment and transparency.
