Job Description

The Director of Talent Culture will be responsible for the leadership and management of all functions of the Talent & Culture department, in accordance with hotel standards.  Directs, implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff.

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Actively participate in the strategic planning and ongoing development of the hotel, including budgeting and forecasting, ensuring the delivery of our environmental commitments, overseeing the health, safety and security of our leaders and colleagues
  • Lead and support all departments in the achievement of their team-oriented  targets via effective organizational development, policy and procedural development, and appropriate training activities
  • Clearly demonstrate to guests and colleagues a commitment to service excellence through the effective implementation and delivery of Accor Hotels & Resorts Core Standards at all times
  • Foster a winning, solution-oriented work environment, motivating and engaging colleagues to continuously deliver the best possible service to our guests.
  • Assess organizational needs, develop aligned Talent & Culture solutions, and implement strategies in the areas of employee relations, compensation and benefits, recognition, administration, health and safety and colleague wellness
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the Talent & Culture office, focusing on maximizing the capabilities of the team by reviewing the coordination of initiatives and activities and providing regular coaching and performance development opportunities
  • Advise and assist with the interpretation and consistent application of Talent & Culture policies and procedures, applicable employment legislation in Texas/USA
  • Ensure that the Hotel is compliant with all Talent & Culture standards found in Accor’s Talent & Culture Audit
  • Be a role model within the hotel and exhibit and practice professional leadership skills that are fully aligned and in support of the Fairmont culture
  • Counsel and coach on job related issues, career development, performance management and conflict resolution
  • Foster and promote positive Colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect and fun
  • Assist Department Heads and senior managers with the development of specific action plans to address issues and concerns identified in annual Employee Engagement Survey
  • Ensure a strong Health and Safety culture, directing and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure regulation compliance, employee awareness and an accident free workplace
  • Organizing employee social and celebratory events, through leadership of the Heartist Recognition Committee
  • Direct, coordinate and implement hotel and employee training programs to promote exceptional guest service experiences
  • Assess organizational needs, develop aligned human resource solutions and implement strategies in the areas of employee relations, compensation and benefits, recognition, administration and Colleague wellness
  • Promote positive Colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect and fun
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Director of Human Resources in similar environment required
  • Ability to gauge talent and a candidate's potential fit within the company culture
  • Previous knowledge and understanding of local market is an asset
  • Computer literacy a must, with strong knowledge of today’s most common software and applications (as required)
  • University/College degree in a related discipline
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills 
  • Self-confident, creative and proactive, able to prioritize and make effective decisions
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to build strong relationships, interact and influence others at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
