Job Description

At Parker’s Table, wine is not just a beverage, it is a storytelling medium. From Canadian terroir to internationally celebrated producers, every bottle is selected with purpose and poured with meaning. This is a space where knowledge meets warmth, and where guests are guided, not impressed.

This role is about more than wine knowledge, it’s about stewardship. As Wine Sommelier at Parker’s Table, you are the custodian of the collection and an on-the-floor ambassador for one of the Bow Valley’s most respected cellars. You blend technical expertise with approachability, elevating each dining experience through thoughtful pairings, engaging dialogue, and precise service.

Start Date: May 2026
Contract Type: Full-Time and Seasonal positions available.
Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Storytelling

  • Guide guests through wine selections for à la carte dishes and multi-course tasting menus.
  • Deliver elevated wine experiences, including tableside tastings and educational moments.
  • Translate terroir, producer intent, and pairing philosophy into accessible, engaging storytelling.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with service teams to ensure precise timing, presentation, and flow.
  • Respond to guest preferences and questions with confidence, warmth, and discretion.

Wine Program Stewardship

  • Curate, manage, and evolve Parker’s Table wine list with a strong focus on Canadian and international excellence.
  • Maintain and elevate the cellar, supporting ongoing national and international recognition.
  • Partner with Culinary leadership to select wines that complement seasonal menus and tasting journeys.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the wine program while honoring established standards.

Education & Team Development

  • Lead regular staff tastings and wine education sessions.
  • Train servers, assistant servers, and bartenders on wine knowledge, pairing principles, and service standards.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for the floor, supporting confidence and consistency across the team.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee wine inventory, purchasing, storage, rotation, and cellar organization.
  • Maintain pristine cellar and wine service areas.
  • Ensure wine service is executed with elegance, accuracy, and adherence to Parker’s Table standards.
  • Support compliance with all liquor legislation, health regulations, and hotel policies.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Formal sommelier certification (WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent).
• Proven experience in fine dining or wine-focused, high-end restaurant environments.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian and international wines, with strong pairing intuition.
• Confident communication skills and comfort leading tastings and staff education.
• A hands-on, guest-first approach with a passion for hospitality and storytelling.
• ProServe certification required.

Bonus If You Bring

• Experience managing a cellar recognized by national or international wine programs.
• Passion for emerging Canadian producers and lesser-known global regions.
• Previous luxury hotel or destination dining experience.
• A mentorship mindset and desire to grow others through knowledge-sharing.
• Experience contributing to tasting menus or chef-driven wine pairings.

Who You Are

You are confident, engaging, and deeply knowledgeable, without ego. You thrive on connection and take pride in guiding guests through experiences that feel personal and memorable. You balance enthusiasm with precision, and your presence on the floor elevates both the guest journey and the team around you.

You believe that great wine service is about listening first, then leading with intention. At Parker’s Table, you don’t just pour wine, you shape moments, deepen connection, and help define the soul of the room.

Curate with intention. Lead through knowledge. Stay moved.

Physical Demands

• Continuous standing and walking throughout service periods.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of wine cases and bottles (up to 22lbs / 10kg).
• Repetitive use of glassware, wine tools, and cellar equipment.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and fine motor movements.
• Ability to work in a dining environment with exposure to noise, temperature variation, and cleaning chemicals.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
