Job Description

The Day Camp Supervisor supports the daily operations of the resort’s Day Camp program, with a strong focus on creating safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for all campers. This entry-level leadership role assists in guiding counselor teams, supporting activity planning and execution, and ensuring SOPs are followed. The Day Camp Supervisor plays a hands-on role in sourcing and preparing activities and crafts that align with resort themes and experiences, while helping counselors succeed in delivering exceptional camper experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Camper Experience & Engagement

  • Help create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive environment that leaves a lasting impression on every camper.
  • Support themed daily programming that aligns with resort events, seasonal activations, and family experiences.
  • Actively engage with campers and families to build positive connections and trust.
  • Monitor camper engagement throughout the day and assist with adjustments to maintain safety, energy, and enjoyment.

Activity & Craft Development

  • Assist in sourcing, preparing, and organizing activities and crafts that align with approved Day Camp experiences and themes.
  • Support the creation of age-appropriate, engaging, and creative programming that enhances learning and fun.
  • Help ensure all activities and crafts are properly prepared, safe, and ready prior to camper participation.
  • Partner with leadership to test, refine, and improve activities based on camper engagement and feedback.
  • Ensure activity supplies are organized, inventoried, and replenished as needed.

Counselor Leadership & Support

  • Support and supervise Day Camp Counselors during daily operations.
  • Ensure counselors are prepared, informed, and set up for success each day.
  • Reinforce adherence to all Day Camp SOPs, safety guidelines, and childcare standards.
  • Provide in-the-moment coaching, feedback, and support to counselors.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new counselors.

Daily Readiness & Operations

  • Help lead daily pre-camp huddles to review schedules, activities, safety reminders, and special considerations.
  • Ensure all activity areas, materials, and spaces are organized, safe, and guest-ready.
  • Support smooth transitions between activities and maintain daily schedules.
  • Assist in monitoring staff-to-camper ratios throughout the day.

Safety, Compliance & SOP Adherence

  • Support compliance with all SOPs, safety procedures, and state childcare licensing requirements.
  • Monitor camp environments for hazards and escalate concerns promptly.
  • Assist with incident documentation and communication when needed.
  • Model safe, positive, and child-focused behaviors at all times.

Guest Communication & Support

  • Support positive communication with parents and guardians regarding daily activities and camper experience.
  • Escalate concerns or special situations to leadership as appropriate. 
  • Help create a welcoming and reassuring experience for families.

 


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience working with children in a day camp, childcare, youth program, or similar environment.
  • Interest in leadership, supervision, or mentoring.
  • Passion for creating engaging and memorable experiences for children.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and model positive behavior.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting activity planning, crafts, or themed programming.
  • Coursework or background in education, recreation, child development, or a related field.
  • CPR, First Aid, or childcare-related certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in hospitality, resort, or guest-experience environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 25–30 pounds (activity supplies or equipment).
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and actively participate in camp activities.
  • Ability to use basic technology such as radios or mobile devices.

Work Environment

  • Work performed in indoor and outdoor camp environments.
  • Frequent interaction with children, families, and staff.
  • Active, high-energy environment requiring continuous engagement and supervision.
  • Schedule includes variable hours, weekends, holidays, and peak seasonal periods.
