New Energy for A Storied Landmark

As the world and Toronto move toward a more sustainable future, our landmark hotel is in a stunning transformation for the zero-carbon century ahead.

Responsible for performing work necessary to keep the hotel properties walls, ceilings and flooring finishes to Fairmont Engineering Departments standards. To carry out renovations and remodeling of offices, public spaces and any space within the hotel property as directed by the Director of Engineering or designated Engineering Managers.

• Perform work on all wall finishes to ensure they are in perfect condition. This may include but not limited to repairing cracks and holes, wallpapering, plastering, dry walling and painting
• Perform work on ceiling to ensure they are in perfect condition this may include but not limited to replacing ceiling tile, track, repairing cracks and holes, plastering, dry walling and painting
• Where necessary, implement temporary safe solutions to minimize the impact of work at the hotel to guests.
• Responsible for working with contractors and in-house staff on renovation and remodeling requirements and prepare a materials list and pricing for the project
• Responsible for ensuring supplies are stored and organized in a manner where codes can be effectively utilized to determine paint requirements by area. Ensure tools and material minimum levels are maintained so that ongoing, routine work can be completed.
• May have to work weekends, holidays and shift work
• Perform other related duties as assigned

What You Need to Succeed

• 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Experience with a variety of  wall finishes
• Knowledge of paints, thinners and work related chemicals
• Knowledge of painting techniques to match wall finishes in areas throughout the hotel.
• WHMIS & OHSA
• Excellent guest service and be able to communicate in the English language

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to)

• Constant standing and walking throughout shift
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
• Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting
• Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
