Job Description

As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be a founding member of the HYDE Perth team, playing a pivotal role in preparing the property for a successful and safe opening. You’ll be responsible for implementing and overseeing all systems, processes, and safety protocols to ensure the building operates flawlessly from day one—and continues to deliver excellence every day thereafter.

Duties

  • Manage the project completion handover from the pre-opening builder and project management team.
  • Lead the setup and implementation of all preventative and reactive maintenance systems to ensure the property is fully operational and compliant ahead of opening.
  • Manage day-to-day maintenance operations across all hotel facilities including guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and external grounds.
  • Develop, document, and maintain safety and maintenance protocols that align with local regulations and brand standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety for all guests, team members, and contractors—championing proactive risk management and compliance.
  • Confidently liaise with contractors, engineers, and suppliers to oversee works and ensure seamless operation of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire systems, etc.).
  • Collaborate with other departments (Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B) to ensure maintenance needs are addressed promptly and with minimal disruption.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for compliance, inspections, warranties, and permits.
  • Repair and upkeep of the property’s plant, pool, equipment, and machinery.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role within hospitality or commercial building management, ideally within a pre-opening environment.
  • Trade qualification or engineering background preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, health and safety regulations, and compliance reporting.
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, proactive attitude.
  • Leadership style that inspires trust, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to creating safe, inviting spaces for everyone.
  • Able to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.
  • Must have valid Australian Working rights.
