Maintenance Assistant - Full Time

Hospitality is a work of heart, at ibis Styles Hobart, centrally located, our 296-room hotel is Tasmania's largest hotel and is a short walk from Hobart's famous waterfront and Salamanca Market.

We are looking for an experienced maintenance assistant who wants more than just a job. Come, share your passion, and start your journey with us! In a nutshell, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all the property's rooms, grounds, facilities, and common areas.

• Performing general maintenance and repairs in the hotel
• Assist the Maintenance Manager in the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the hotel
• Ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and service areas are in excellent working order
• Carry out maintenance requirements and follow up as scheduled by the Hotels’ Property Management System (PMS).
• Assist in keeping up-to-date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel equipment, machinery, and systems to identify potential issues
• Ensure all tasks are performed with urgency and in the safest manner possible
• Assist in managing 3rd party contractors
• Communicate effectively with hotel staff to address urgent maintenance concerns

• Excellent communication skills
• Comfortable in a physical role, have a get-up-and-go attitude with a strong eye for detail
• Self-motivated, punctual and reliable, with a proactive approach to work
• Basic knowledge of general repair work or DIY
• Competent in the use of basic computer programs
• Workplace Health and Safety knowledge
• Ability to accommodate flexibility with shifts, including weekends
• Previous handyman/maintenance experience in a hotel or guest service environment preferred
