Job Description

To be directly responsible for leading the stewards and assist them whenever necessary.

  • Ensure that assigned staff reports to work and document any late employees.
  • Coordinate breaks for assigned staff.
  • Prepare and distribute assignments for stewarding staff and review priorities.
  • Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Check supply levels in storage closets. Complete requisition for additional supplies needed and submit to manager.
  • Inspect cleanliness and organization of storage areas. Assign designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
  • Observe staff performance of job functions and ensure that all procedures are completed to department standards
  • Review kitchen and restaurant service needs from Stewarding throughout the shift and ensure that all requirements are met according to specifications.
  • Monitor all work areas for compliance with state health regulations and hotel requirements, follow up on any violation
  • Monitor and ensure that all temperature and chemical solution requirements are met with regard to dishwashing, pot washing and storage.
  • Monitor and maintain pest control requirements in accordance to hotel standards.
  • Coordinate and assist with Banquet function requirements as needed SET UPS.
  • Assist stewarding staff with their job functions where needed to ensure optimum cleanliness and service standards.
  • Accommodate request for additional wares as expediently and courteously. Follow up delivery of all such items.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance to manager and report disciplinary problems to manager.
  • Document pertinent information in the department log book.
  • Ensure all staff assignments are completed before staff sign out.
  • Complete all paper work and closing duties before leaving.
  • Review status of assignments and any follow up action.
  • Stock stewarding supplies
  • Coordinate and assist with inventories as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Long hours may be required. 
  • Medium  work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective at handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests.                                                                      
  • Bilingual skills is helpful
