Host

Be the first smile and the lasting impression at any of our exceptional F&B destinations, from Notch8 inside the iconic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver to intimate speakeasies and other unique venues. As a Host, you set the tone for an unforgettable guest experience from the moment they arrive.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Greeting guests warmly and professionally, delivering engaging service from start to finish
  • Assisting guests with menu selections in an informative and personable manner
  • Supporting colleagues during service for a smooth and consistent guest experience, including running food, refreshing beverages, and resetting tables
  • Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of beverages, menu items, preparation methods, and current promotions
  • Handling guest concerns gracefully, offering solutions, and proactively improving service
  • Being attentive to dietary restrictions and allergies, ensuring effective communication among the team
  • Staying current with loyalty program offerings and promotions
  • Following all outlet policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Adhering to safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverages
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • Service-focused personality with experience in high-volume restaurants (preferred)
  • Experience in luxury hotels or service-based industries (ideal but not required)
  • Genuine passion for food and beverage
  • Calm, courteous, and professional under pressure
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional working proficiency in English
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player who can also work independently when needed
  • Positive “Can do” attitude with a sense of urgency
  • Highly responsible, reliable, and professional in appearance and conduct
  • Knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and specialty coffee (an asset)
  • Valid Serving It Right Certification
  • Flexibility to work a fluctuating schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and rotating shifts

Physical Aspects of the Position

  • Constant standing and walking throughout the shift
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, and pulling

Additional Information

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
