As our next Executive Chef, you will provide an amazing culinary experience for our guests, ensuring their stay with us exceeds their expectations. You will make friends, develop a reputation for outstanding service that puts our Exchange Lounge and Bar on the map!

You'll be a team player, embracing challenges, with a limitless mindset that reminds all of our guests that we are Accor. You will be the leader of our experienced kitchen team but will also support our operations in our adjoining sister hotel Ibis 96 Portland Street. You will be extending a warm welcome to our guests, putting their well-being at the heart of everything you do, while adding your personal touch to their stay. This might mean, creating that special custom dish from the kitchen, or delivering a special gastronomic welcome for a VIP's arrival. You will be a passionate individual, dedicated to continuously improving the quality of the hotel's services.

To help you navigate your role, and support your success you will be trained in all front of house related functions and the safety of the property and people.

Our hotel offers 169 rooms, and a 4 star service. We provide complimentary meals for our staff, as well as an almost limitless supply of coffee and fun. To ensure you can best welcome and care for our guests you will need to be fluent in English and have competent numeracy and I.T skills.

Understanding things from our guest’s perspective is key, so while you are settling into your new role we will arrange a one-night stay for you to experience this first hand.

Job Description

We are seeking a visionary and innovative Head Chef to lead our culinary team in Manchester. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, and creating unforgettable dining experiences for our guests.

Join us in contributing to Manchester's vibrant culinary scene and elevating our restaurant to new heights of gastronomic excellence.

  • Develop and implement innovative menu concepts that reflect current culinary trends and showcase locally sourced ingredients
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a talented team of culinary professionals, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence
  • Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, quality control, and presentation standards
  • Manage inventory, food costs, and budgeting to ensure optimal profitability without compromising quality
  • Collaborate with the management team to enhance overall guest satisfaction and drive business growth
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of kitchen hygiene
  • Participate in menu engineering, pricing strategies, and special event planning
  • Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and technologies to improve kitchen efficiency
  • Engage with guests, gather feedback, and make necessary adjustments to enhance the dining experience
  • Foster relationships with local suppliers and farmers to source the finest ingredients

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef in a mid-scale or premium brand.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of managing and developing high-performing kitchen teams
  • Exceptional culinary skills and expertise in menu creation, food presentation, and modern cooking techniques
  • Strong knowledge of various international cuisines and current dietary trends
  • Proficiency inventory management systems
  • Excellent understanding of food costing, budgeting, and financial management in kitchen operations
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences and continuously elevating culinary standards
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required
  • Creativity and vision to innovate and stay ahead of culinary trends
