Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Baghdad, Iraq. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality, kitchen efficiency, and team performance.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative menus, recipes, and culinary concepts
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, quality control, and inventory management
  • Assign specific duties to kitchen staff and provide clear instructions and guidance
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and quality control measures
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of kitchen equipment
  • Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to enhance their skills and promote a positive work environment
  • Assist in managing food costs, reducing waste, and optimizing kitchen efficiency
  • Conduct regular taste tests and quality checks on prepared dishes
  • Participate in menu planning, pricing, and cost control initiatives
  • Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, assuming full kitchen leadership responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of new recipes and culinary techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting
  • Ensure excellent communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain smooth service operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar Executive Sous Chef role or equivalent position
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team
  • Extensive knowledge of various cuisines, culinary techniques, and food trends
  • Proven track record in menu development, food presentation, and quality control
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work efficiently under pressure
  • Solid understanding of food safety standards, health regulations, and kitchen safety protocols
