Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Duty Engineer to join our team in Grand Mercure Bangalore, India. As a Duty Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facility's engineering systems, contributing to an exceptional guest experience and efficient operations.

 

  • Oversee and maintain all engineering and maintenance systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Conduct regular inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, elevators, lighting, and fire safety systems
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to guest and staff maintenance requests
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, plumbing, and mechanical issues
  • Supervise the maintenance team and coordinate with contractors when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, equipment performance, and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations and building codes
  • Assist in implementing energy conservation efforts and sustainability initiatives
  • Report major breakdowns and recommend necessary upgrades or replacements
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff
  • Participate in budget planning for maintenance and repairs
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes
  • Conduct safety training for staff on equipment operation and emergency procedures
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Collaborate with procurement team to source high-quality materials and tools

 


Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hotel or facility maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and handle emergency repairs efficiently
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Familiarity with building management systems and maintenance management software
  • Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations in Mumbai
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional service
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Hindi or Marathi is a plus
