Job Description

As our Director of Security, you will develop and lead the exceptional Security team who ensures the safety and well-being of our resort, our colleagues and our guests.  You will work closely with our Risk & Safety Manager and oversee the resort’s safety program, including but not limited to policy development and implementation, property-wide safety training, emergency procedures and risk management.

Salary Range:  $95,000 - $110,000

What you will doing:

  • Ensure the Security team individually and collectively achieves exceptional levels of guest service, colleague satisfaction, documentation requirements and corporate/legal compliance through effective recruiting, training, feedback, accountability and recognition.
  • Assign duties and schedule staff, balancing operational, administrative and Colleague needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on all corporate, local or departmental SOPs, standards, policies and programs related to Health & Safety and Security, including various response plans, Business Continuity Plans, loss control policies, and crisis management.  Develop/maintain policies with input from resort leaders.  Enforce, communicate and train staff on safety, security and risk management policies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and preventative measures.  Develop, administer and enforce safety and safety incentive programs.  Chair Safety Committee.  Develop, revise, and advise key personnel of emergency procedures. Track departmental safety records and document medically treated and non-treated injuries.
  • Coordinate and monitor efficiency of all safety and security related programs for overall hotel, including lost and found process, lock audits/interrogations, key control, chemical, CPR, and Fire Preparedness training, Manager on Duty schedules, evacuation drills, etc.
  • Direct response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical training and empowering team to use Crisis Committee Contact. Act as a liaison within the community and policing forces to maintain awareness of current security issues. Be available for all emergency situations both on and off duty.
  • Promote safe work practices and support department’s daily operations.  Conduct walk through observations and evictions.  Watch for, investigate and follow up on suspicious activities, property loss and hazards/accidents. 
  • Participate in courses related to field to remain knowledgeable with current events and trends
  • Manage and conduct Accor Safety Compliance Training including Annual WATCH program will all hotel colleagues.
  • Guide and support leaders on Health, Safety and Security procedures and ensure they are providing a safe workplace for their colleagues.
  • Manage labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing, and inventory
  • Assist with claims management, including collaborating with Human Resources on work place accident investigations, first aid program and the return to work program, maintaining compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate lock repairs and key management with Engineering
  • Work with staff on all special events and programs within the hotel.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent or vocational training ‘
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management or related field is an asset
  • Certifications in Security or Law Enforcement related fields is an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Facility/Workplace security
  • Experience in Security Management in a resort atmosphere preferred

Licenses or Certificates          

  • State of Hawaii Guard Card
  • Valid Drivers License and clean drivers abstract.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Maui County Liquor Card
  • Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) certification is an asset
  • Fire safety certification is an asset
  • FEMA training and certifications are an asset
