Job Description

As Director of Membership Sales, you will lead all membership sales efforts across all membership categories, with specific responsibility for Full, National, Legacy, Young Executive, and National Golf Membership segments. You will have direct oversight of the Membership Director and Membership Concierge and will be fully responsible for all Golf Membership sales. In addition, you will lead the sales and marketing efforts for the recruitment of new members by developing membership marketing plans, public relations programs, and sales strategies in partnership with the General Manager/Director of Golf, Director of Commercial, and the Marketing Department. The Director works closely with the General Manager/Director of Golf, Director of Commercial, and Director of Finance on budgeting and forecasting of expenses and revenues.

 

 Primary Responsibilities:

  •  Assists in developing and maintaining the atmosphere of a private club that will distinguish The Grand Golf Club in a positive manner from all similar competition.
  •  Preparation of monthly membership sales report to highlight all sales activities, marketing activities and funnel for new membership sales
  •  The Director will actively develop a Prospective Member Roster from:
  • Personal referrals from members.
  • Directors and officers of major corporations and financial institutions within the market area or other areas deemed appropriate by the Board and management.
  • Association rosters.
  • Professional societies.
  • Mailing lists of new residents, physicians, attorneys, and other professionals.
  • Local residential civic associations, realtors, retail establishments, schools, etc.
  • Junior League, Ladies' social, garden, charitable and service clubs.
  • Any other sources as directed by General Manager/Director of Golf, Director of Commercial and marketing
  • The Director ensures prompt and regular communication with all members regarding membership matters and club activities.
  • Coordinates all Marketing Plans.
  • The Director is responsible for all day-to-day administrative membership matters to include:
  • Maintenance of all Membership files including membership payment schedules in concert with finance.
  • Follow-­up on all telephone and internet inquiries regarding prospective members.
  • Follow­-up on all inquiries or notices regarding current member status or membership status changes.
  • Processing of new member applications.
  • Processing of membership status change requests.
  • Processing of resignations from membership.
  • The Director is responsible for the following marketing, promotional, and follow-­up activities:
  • Prospective Member Roster
  • Marketing Plans, Schedules and Budget
  • Special Events & Membership Promotions
  • Publicity Events & Public Relations
  • Exit interviews of resigning members
  • Follow up interviews with new members
  • Plans and oversees all planned social sales activities such as promotional receptions, new member parties, and orientation sessions.
  • Establishes and maintains working rapport with the Club Manager, General Manager and the President of the Board of Directors.
  •  Establishes and maintains contacts with local civic organizations that are considered helpful to membership
  • sales and on occasion can attend meetings of these organizations.
  • Ensures that the following administrative and promotional tools are integrated into the overall sales effort including:
  •  Membership Application Packet
  •  Membership Welcome Packet
  •  Membership Handbook
  •  Website
  •   Newsletter
  • Responsible for the publication of the monthly Cub Newsletter in conjunction with maintenance of the Club’s
  • website. The Director assists in the promotion of Club activities and special events.
  • The Director works effectively in the art of cultivating outside sales leads.
  • Develops a complete understanding of membership classifications, fee schedules, Club By ­Laws and the club in general.
  • The Director is responsible for educating and training staff members on how to direct questions regarding all
  • membership inquiries. The Director works with employees on how to greet the prospective member, answer telephones and assist with questions from members and prospective members.
  • The Director promotes and sells at appropriate special functions hosted at the Club that are attended by non­members, aka prospective members.
  • The Director follows up with members entertaining guests at the Club.

 

 


Qualifications

  • College degree required (2-year A.A. or 4-year B.A.).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management experience in a country club or hospitality environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar software.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and drive membership sales.
