Job Description

Director of Finance – Where Leadership Meets Luxury

At Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, where French elegance meets Sydney’s vibrant waterfront energy, we invite you to write the next chapter in your career as our Director of Finance. This is more than a role, it is an opportunity to lead with vision, precision, and passion within one of Australia’s most celebrated luxury hotels.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be the cornerstone of our financial story, building and inspiring a high-performing finance team through thoughtful recruitment, professional development, and strong leadership. With your guidance, the department will deliver not only accuracy and compliance but also insight, innovation, and trust.

As the financial custodian of the property, you will be working closely with the General Manager, Regional Finance Team and Ownership group. Collaborating closely with senior leaders, you will implement robust internal controls and sound financial policies, ensuring each department contributes to the profitability and long-term success of the hotel. From annual budgets to monthly forecasts, your expertise will help shape strategic decisions and maintain Sofitel’s commitment to excellence.

Your reports will not just reflect numbers, they will tell the story behind our success, providing clarity and confidence to guide our leadership team. Every analysis, every forecast, and every insight you produce will embody the precision and elegance synonymous with Sofitel.

About You

You bring proven experience in a similar leadership role, with a strong understanding of luxury hotels and the nuances of high-end hospitality. A natural leader, you have the ability to motivate, coach, and develop people, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork. Your professional presence reflects grace and confidence, complemented by exceptional interpersonal skills that build trust across every level of the organisation.

  • Previous experience in a similar position with a strong understanding of luxury hotels.
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills to motivate, coach and develop people.
  • The ability to project a professional image at all times through personal presentation / interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise with all levels within the company and build relationships.
