Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Controller to join our team in Baghdad, Iraq. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and controlling costs, ensuring financial efficiency, and supporting informed decision-making across all departments.

  • Monitor and analyze all operational costs, including food, beverage, and other expenses, to ensure alignment with budgets and forecasts
  • Implement and maintain robust cost control systems and procedures to optimize financial performance
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and variance analyses to ensure stock integrity and identify discrepancies
  • Prepare detailed cost reports and financial analyses for management review and decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with finance, procurement, and operational teams to drive cost efficiency initiatives
  • Review and analyze purchase prices, supplier contracts, and consumption trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies, audit requirements, and internal control procedures
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to cost accounting and inventory management
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve cost management strategies and operational efficiency

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Cost Controller or in a similar finance role, preferably within the hospitality industry
  • Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail and ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles, budgeting, and forecasting processes
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with financial management systems
  • Excellent organizational skills with a hands-on, disciplined, and structured working approach
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with both finance and operational teams
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems and control procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus
