Sofitel Brisbane Central is seeking talented and enthusiastic Cooks to join our culinary team. Located in the heart of Brisbane, our luxury 5-star hotel is renowned for delivering exceptional service and unforgettable dining experiences. As a Cook in our hotel, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
- Prepare and cook a variety of hot and cold food items according to recipes and quality standards
- Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and safety practices in all food preparation areas
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations and meet customer expectations
- Assist in menu planning and development of new dishes
- Manage food inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment properly
- Adapt to changing needs and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
- Participate in team efforts to improve kitchen processes and overall dining experience
- Comply with all relevant health department regulations and organisational policies.
Flexibility to work across different shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a luxury or five-star environment
- Trade Qualification in Commercial Cookery
- Maintain impeccable hygiene and kitchen standards in line with HACCP requirements
- Current Food Handlers certificate
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen procedures
- Excellent knife skills and ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
- Proficiency in preparing a wide range of cuisines and dietary options
- Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and guests
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Basic computer skills for using kitchen management systems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred, but not required with sufficient experience
- Basic English language proficiency.
