Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Chief Steward to join our team in Jakarta, Indonesia. As the Chief Steward, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the sanitation and equipment management of our food and beverage operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.

  • Supervise and coordinate daily sanitation operations in all kitchen and storage areas
  • Manage and train the stewarding team to meet service standards and maintain strict hygiene protocols
  • Ensure all food and beverage outlets are supplied with clean, sanitized equipment and functioning kitchen tools
  • Oversee proper chemical usage and safe dishwashing practices
  • Develop and manage staff rosters, conduct performance reviews, and foster team development
  • Monitor budgets, coordinate with suppliers, and implement cost control measures through efficient resource utilization
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other department heads to maintain smooth kitchen operations
  • Drive continuous improvement in operations, service quality, and team engagement
  • Uphold workplace health, safety, and environmental commitments
  • Lead by example in promoting company values and fostering a positive work environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a similar role
  • Proven knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Proficiency in chemical handling and safety protocols
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations and business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and implement cost control measures
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and drive to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with inventory management and supplier coordination
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and systems
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is a plus
