Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef de Partie (Halwai) to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of traditional Indian sweets and savory snacks, ensuring the highest quality and authenticity of our offerings.

  • Plan and execute the preparation of a wide range of Indian sweets and savory snacks, maintaining consistency and quality
  • Manage and coordinate activities within the Halwai section of the kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, including HACCP regulations
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff in Halwai specialties
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize food waste
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop new recipes and menu items
  • Monitor food costs and contribute to cost-effective operations
  • Participate in menu planning and special event preparations
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen sections and front-of-house staff

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role, specializing in Halwai cuisine
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian sweets and savory snacks, with a focus on regional specialties
  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized institution (preferred)
  • Food safety certification
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in inventory management and cost control
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills in English and local languages
  • Creativity and passion for developing new recipes and presentations
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items when necessary
