Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the coffee shop assistant manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance, practice Fairmont Service Promise’s in all interactions
- Prepare handcrafted espresso‑based beverages, brewed coffees, cold beverages, nitro drinks, smoothies, and teas with precision and consistency
- Grind, dose, and extract espresso; maintain knowledge of bean profiles, origins, roasting methods, and flavor characteristics
- Calibrate espresso machines throughout the day to ensure optimal extraction and maintain cleanliness and functionality of all coffee equipment
- Rotate beans and monitor freshness levels to ensure product quality is upheld at all times
- Deliver warm, efficient, personalized guest service in line with Fairmont Service Promise standards
- Make knowledgeable beverage recommendations and manage high‑volume service periods while maintaining professionalism
- Provide service at the counter and tables as required
- Set up daily workstations including the espresso bar, cold bar, and condiment areas
- Maintain adequate stock levels for all beverage ingredients, milk alternatives, syrups, garnishes, and related supplies
- Communicate any '86' items or shortages to both the serving team and supervisor on duty
- Perform all opening and closing duties related to barista operations
- Prepare and serve pastries, sandwiches, salads, smoothies, and grab‑and‑go products
- Maintain retail displays to brand standards, ensuring items are attractively presented and fully stocked
- Process transactions, manage float, and reconcile cash at end of shift
- Maintain accurate inventory for coffee bar ingredients and complete daily requisitions to ensure proper stock levels
- Maintain cleanliness of all service areas, equipment, counters, and work surfaces, including espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and nitro systems
- Follow all Accor, local government, WHO, and EHC safety and sanitation standards
- Ensure proper rubbish removal and adherence to all sanitation protocols
- Perform any other duties, tasks, and assignments within your department as required.
Qualifications:
- Passion for coffee craft: bean knowledge, grinding, extraction.
- Previous barista or specialty coffee experience required.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Strong organization and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Silverware / POS experience an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Highly responsible & reliable
- The ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as required
- The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Sitting: 0-1 hr/day
- Walking: 6-8 hr/day
- Standing: 6-8 hr/day
- Bending/reaching: 4-6 hr/day
- Pushing/pushing: 4-6 hr/day
- Physical effort: required to lift up to 50lbs
- Environmental stress: busy atmosphere
