Job Description

Banquet Manager

Are you passionate about creating memorable events? As a Banquet Manager, you’ll play a key role in elevating the guest experience by leading a dynamic team to deliver exceptional service. If you’re ready to make a lasting impact in the hospitality industry, we want to hear from you!

What you will be doing:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead the Banquet team to ensure top-notch service standards.
  • Operational Support: Assist the Director of Banquets with administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Guest Experience: Provide proactive, friendly, and professional guest service by addressing concerns swiftly and empathetically. Ensure clear communication and follow-up on all guest needs.
  • Coaching & Development: Mentor the Banquet team by providing regular feedback, conducting performance reviews, and creating incentive programs.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and maintain banquet policies and procedures to enhance quality, guest satisfaction, and cost-efficiency.
  • Event Supervision: Oversee all aspects of event execution, from set-up to clean-up, ensuring brand standards are maintained and guests have a seamless experience.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Conference Services & Catering teams to ensure a luxury guest experience.
  • Staffing & Scheduling: Ensure appropriate staffing in alignment with labor, productivity, and CBA guidelines.
  • Employee Relations: Foster a positive work environment by addressing colleague concerns and providing ongoing support.
  • Health & Safety Leadership: Actively promote a safe working environment, ensure compliance with safety policies, and contribute to fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • Sustainability: Participate in our Health & Safety, Recognition, and Planet 21 (Sustainability) Committees.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned to support team and operational success.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, we’re looking for candidates who have the following qualifications:

  • Experience & Leadership: Previous Banquet leadership experience and a service-focused personality.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly convey ideas, actions, and opportunities while fostering strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to address and resolve challenges.
  • Team Player: A belief in building a strong team culture and setting the tone for high performance.
  • Union Experience (Optional): Experience working in a Union environment is an asset.
  • Certifications: Serving It Right certification is required.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, late nights, early mornings, and holidays.

Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
