Job Description

This role is pivotal in assisting to manage and or supervising the banquet floor by providing engaging, sincere, personalized service.  In the absence of the Banquet Director, the Assistant Banquet Director will require to attend Banquet Event Meetings, Pre-Conference meetings, Resume meetings and labor meetings. The Assistant Banquet Director will ensure that all standards, procedures and guest satisfaction objectives are met and exceeded on a consistent basis. 

Scope:

Works to efficiently manage the banquet department in partnership with the Banquet Director.  To ensure that guests receive service and is done through corporate standards. 
Oversee banquet operations, through all meal periods, manage inventory, maintain high standards of training and manage labor effectively without compromising service standards and also have an on-floor presence during all functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be an ambassador of the hotel, in and outside the workplace
  • Responsible for maintaining a high energy, positive, professional appearance
  • To provide a personal service to all the guests, fully aware and following the hotel standards and procedure
  • To ensure that all guests/visitors receive a fond farewell, cordially greeting them, opening the hotel doors and helping them into their vehicles, as well as bidding them farewell
  • To assist staff member to insure they maximize their service standards
  • To prepare shift briefings and meal briefings
  • To manager any guest complaint in a professional manner, by owning it, resolving it to the guest’s satisfaction and recording it
  • Responsible for short- and long-term banquet functions in the front and the back of the house
  • Responsible for proactively reviewing staffing and equipment needs
  • Responsible for ensuring coordination and execution of all events with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/Conference Services and Beverage
  • Hire staff, discipline staff, evaluate their performance and document all aspects of their employment
  • Bi-monthly including tip pool breakdown done accurately and on time
  • Staff functions for optimum labor costs and maximum service, write accurate schedule within designated staffing guidelines
  • Control inventory of glassware, bar tools, dry-goods etc.
  • Perform End-of-Month beverage inventory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in Banquet Management/Director experience preferred, preferably in a 4 or 5 start resort or convention hotel
  • Customer services experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities and handle a multitude of tasks, colleagues and guest requests
  • A true desire to understand and anticipate the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates should be extremely creative, innovative, detail orientated and organized
  • Passion for guest service, strong guest service orientation and training skills required
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays
  • Visa Requirements; Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • MAST & Food Handler’s Certification
