Laundry Attendant - Sorter

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel is seeking a Full Time Laundry Attendant - Sorter to join our Housekeeping Team. Under the direction of the Executive Housekeeper, the Laundry Attendant (Sorter) will be responsible for the sorting of laundry in the hotel and laundering items as directed. This role is pivotal in ensuring the linen and terry levels are maintained. The Laundry Attendant (Sorter) will ensure that all standards and procedures objectives are met and exceeded on a consistent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance
• Ensures that the laundry is sorted daily into linen and terry
• Ensures that the linen and terry is placed in the correct area for pickup by the third-party laundry facility
• Maintain an organized laundry facility
• Ensure that all in house items are laundered consistently and are not sent out for cleaning
• Ensures Fairmont standards, procedures, and practices (LQA, Forbes, etc.) are followed on an on-going basis
• Policies are adhered to in order to prevent damage and loss of guest’s belongings and hotel property
• Promotes positive colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication trust and mutual respect
• Performs any and all other tasks which are assigned by management

• Warm and caring personality; previous laundry experience is an asset
• Ability to anticipate and focus attention on guest and collegue needs, being professional and welcoming
• Excellent organizational skills and time management
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
• Highly responsible and reliable
• At least 1 year experience in Dry Cleaning facility
• Previous seamstress experience preferred
• Open Availability
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Must hold work authorization in the USA

This job requires constant standing, walking, bending, and twisting.  Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs and able to push 300lbs.  Must be physically capable of performing duties which involve repetitive bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting of heavy objects.
