Company Description

We are looking for a Director of Rooms to join the re-opening of the famed Delano Miami Beach.

Set to open its doors in 2025, Delano Miami Beach will fuse historic charm with contemporary luxury, reflecting a reimagined experience that pays homage to the original visionary concept. Comprising 170 rooms and distinct food and beverage concepts, the hotel will preserve its iconic walk-in pool and, in addition, unveil a new pool on an amenity deck, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. Delano Miami Beach will act as the brand’s flagship location, re-establishing Delano as a trailblazer in luxury lifestyle hospitality.  Ennismore, in partnership with Cain International (the owners of Delano Miami Beach as well as partner in the Delano brand), are currently undertaking a significant renovation and redevelopment of the iconic Delano hotel with an aim to open its doors again ahead of the 2025 winter high season.

The Director of Rooms is responsible for managing the Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping and Spa departments of the hotel.  The Director of Rooms is responsible for providing all guests, members and patrons with quality service while maximizing room revenue and developing team members.


Job Description

What you'll do... 

  • Coordinate the organization and administrative functions in all areas of the Rooms Division: Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping and Spa. 
  • Daily management of Rooms Division - ensure clear communication with and amongst departments to provide complete guest and team member satisfaction. 
  • Continuously evaluate performance of each Rooms Division and taking corrective actions when necessary. 
  • Establish and champion Delano-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) independently and with your heads of department.  Ensure compliance of brand and company standards and policies.
  • Attend, lead, and participate in various hotel and departmental meetings. 
  • Attract and retain the best talent in the market.  Conducts interviews for all corresponding departments for the pre-opening phase and beyond.   
  • With Executive Committee, determine strategy, training and tools needed to ensure the sense of empowerment necessary for team members to provide exceptional guest service. 
  • Facilitate the training and development for Rooms Division team to the Delano standards and style.  
  • Monitor and review guest comments and feedback to identify areas for improvement. 
  • Respond directly to guests as necessary. 
  • In partnership with the General Manager and applicable teams, monitor daily availability and occupancy and communicate with Revenue to resolve any challenges.  
  • Participates in Fire Safety and Loss Prevention programs.
  • Ensure the efficiency and service levels of departments through scheduling and monitoring staffing levels.
  • Ensure preparation of required reports, including (but not limited to) Wage Progress, payroll, revenue, team member schedules, quarterly actions plans.
  • Oversee divisional matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws.
  • We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. We will on occasion call for everyone on the team to on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional service. 

Qualifications

What we're looking for...

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in hotel or a related industry leadership role, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Pre-opening experience strongly preferred
  • Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company's values
  • You’re a strong team leader, a natural at managing and inspiring others in a way that gets the best out of them.
  • You combine analytical and methodical thinking with high attention to detail and a solution-focused approach.
  • You’re a great communicator – both verbally and written – and a great listener. Fluent in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • A proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Hotsos, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook, point of sale systems.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high-level attention to detail. You prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation.
  • You have a passion for hospitality, you inspire an enthusiastic guest-centered approach.
  • You can turn any situation around into a positive experience for all, guests and team alike.
  • You think big and encourage your team to believe.
  • You are a natural at leading and managing others, and you lead by example, creating an environment where your team can be their best self.
