Job summary:
The Demi Chef de Partie will assist the Chef de Partie and other members of the Kitchen team in the preparation and production of food according to the menu and restaurant standards. The role involves understanding and following recipes, managing and maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and supporting the team in daily tasks.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Chef de Partie in preparation and production of food as per set recipes and standards
- Follow instructions and guidelines provided by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Head Chef
- Ensure all preparation, cooking, and plating is done to the required standard of quality and consistency
- Organize and maintain work areas, including equipment, utensils, and cutting stations
- Assist with inventory management, order supplies and ingredients as required
- Monitor food quality, taste, appearance, and portion sizes
- Participate in kitchen operations such as stock rotation, wastage control, and record-keeping
- Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards and regulations
- Assist in supervising junior staff when required
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or management
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Diploma or Certification in Culinary Arts or related field preferred
- 1-2 years of experience as a Commis Chef or similar role in a restaurant or hotel kitchen environment
- Ability to follow recipes and work as part of a team
- Knowledge of kitchen operations, equipment, and procedures
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
