Pierre is living proof that our Group is a launchpad for your career! Assistant Director of F&B at the Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opera in January 2019, he is now Sales Assistant for this legendary address.
First of all, describe yourself in a few lines so that we can get to know you better: your position, how long you have been working there, your age, your personality, your passions, your ambitions....
I am Assistant to the Director of Food & Beverage at the Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra (France) as part of my final internship since January 2019. I am 25 years old, and I am passionate and invested in the different projects I undertake, both professional and personal. I have great admiration and curiosity for all types of know-how, especially in food and clothing. In the short term, I would like to take up a position as a F&B manager in the luxury division at Accor.
How did you hear about Accor?
I have always known Accor as a customer, otherwise I really discovered the Group and its many facets during my studies in Hotel Management.
How was your first encounter with your manager?
Very well, we quickly realized that we had the same vision of our job and common interests, moreover it is a person of a great professionalism who taught me a lot and who knew how to get the best out of me.
Do you feel that your internship at Accor has help you grow personally and professionally?
This is the first time I have worked in a hotel that is so important in terms of capacity and staff. I think that this internship has made me evolve a lot in my approach with the employees, and in my way of seeing the hotel business. Moreover, Le Scribe being under renovation, the challenge is even more rewarding.
Tell us a little bit about Sofitel…
I really like Sofitel's approach: creating a standardized luxury environment with a very strong identity and a unique relationship with people. As a Sofitel ambassador, I appreciate the fact that I am versatile, the positions are not compartmentalized with specific missions, this is a real benefit on a daily basis. This versatility is all the more important during the renovation period because the hotel remains open.
What are your missions and responsibilities?
I am 80% on F&B operations (catering), on various points of sale. I manage teams, ensure the proper functioning of services and customer satisfaction.
I also have several administrative missions including the follow-up of the financial audit catering and the follow-up of the hygiene audit catering.
What is your best memory since you arrived?
The preparation of a tasting for the new restaurant concept on which I am working in collaboration with my deputy director and my F&B director. I was able to play an important role in this event. It's really rewarding to be involved in a project like this, it's a real challenge.
What do you prefer about your work? About the hospitality sector?
Meeting people, managing teams, it's a great job when you're curious.
Have you been able to take advantage of training/network/meetings/travel opportunities?
I had the opportunity to attend several professional supplier evenings and internal training sessions for customer relations.
What made your experience so special at Accor?
The people I met and the ambassadors I work with every day.
Would you recommend to your friends to do their internship/apprenticeship in the Group?
Yes, it seems to me that Accor is an excellent entry into the world of work, with many opportunities.
What are your projects after your internship/apprenticeship?
I have a job opportunity at Le Scribe, so I will continue with a permanent contract as sale assistant.
