Job Description

Housekeeping Manager
The Housekeeping Manager oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring efficient and smooth workflow.

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping staff, including room attendants, housekeeping supervisors, and House Person.
  • Ensure that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are maintained according to established cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Schedule and assign duties to housekeeping team members, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal staff utilization.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure adherence to cleanliness standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as Front Office and Maintenance, to ensure seamless guest experiences and timely resolution of issues.
  • Manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies, guest amenities, linens, and other housekeeping supplies.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, orders, and expenditures related to housekeeping supplies.
  • Train and mentor housekeeping staff on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and guest service standards.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their professional development.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety and security of guests and staff.
  • Address guest complaints and concerns regarding housekeeping services promptly and effectively.
  • Prepare regular reports on housekeeping operations, including occupancy rates, productivity, and performance metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records of housekeeping schedules, attendance, and payroll information.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of new housekeeping team members as needed.
  • Administer inventory records for linens, guest amenities, cleaning materials, and mini bar products.
  • Monitor staff illness, ensuring necessary documentation (doctor's notes, forms) are submitted.
  • Fulfill additional tasks as requested by the Executive Housekeeper to support departmental goals and operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is usually the minimum requirement.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping or related roles is essential.
  • Supervisory or managerial experience is often required, preferably in a hotel, resort, or similar hospitality environment.
  • Experience with cleaning procedures, inventory management, and staff scheduling is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of housekeeping staff effectively.
    Capable of overseeing multiple tasks, schedules, and priorities within the department.
  • Ability to handle guest complaints and resolve issues efficiently.
