Sous Chef

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, a 4 star property with 273 rooms, making this the largest single hotel in Queenstown. Conveniently placed in prime location in Queenstown, making it one of the most iconic tourist destination Hotels in the World! Our hotel offerings include a 170 seat restaurant, 60 seat lounge bar and a 60 seat meeting room. Our menu offerings include buffet, a la carte, set menus and in room dining options.

Job Description

•  Work with the executive chef and kitchen team to prepare, cook, and serve high-quality dishes that exceed guest expectations.
• Supervise kitchen operations, ensuring consistent quality and presentation of food.
•  Uphold the highest hygiene standards in line with Health & Safety regulations.
•  Manage food costs effectively through proper preparation, service, and storage techniques.
•  Lead and train staff, ensuring they are motivated and working efficiently.
•  Assist in menu planning, food preparation, and ordering.
•  Oversee stock rotation and ensure minimal food wastage.
•  Provide training for chefs and apprentices to assist in the development of all team members.
• Assist the executive chef in creating staff rosters and manage other administrative duties as needed.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained, serviced, and cleaned regularly.
• Salary $70,000 - $80,000

•  Minimum 2 years previous experience in similar role will be advantageous
•  A strong work ethic and passion for quality cuisine
•  Ability to work under pressure, in a fast paced environment
•  Ability to work cohesively and collectively as part of a diverse kitchen team
•  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
