Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team in Mumbai, India. In this role, you will be responsible for creating exceptional pastry and bakery offerings that delight our guests and uphold our commitment to culinary excellence. As a key member of our kitchen brigade, you will combine technical expertise with creative innovation to develop and execute outstanding desserts, baked goods, and confectionery items. Your dedication to quality, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit will contribute to memorable dining experiences and operational success.

  • Prepare and execute a diverse range of pastry items, desserts, baked goods, and confectionery products using classical and contemporary techniques
  • Develop and maintain consistency in all pastry offerings, ensuring exceptional quality, presentation, and taste standards are met consistently
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to design innovative seasonal menus, special event offerings, and customized dessert experiences
  • Manage daily pastry kitchen operations, including production planning, mise en place preparation, and efficient workflow organization
  • Monitor and control food costs, portion sizes, and ingredient usage while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Maintain comprehensive inventory records, track stock levels, and communicate supply needs to ensure seamless operations
  • Uphold rigorous food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with local regulations and company policies
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams including Food & Beverage, Banquets, and Events to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for special occasions and functions
  • Accommodate guest preferences, dietary requirements, and special requests with care, flexibility, and personalized attention
  • Stay informed of emerging pastry techniques, culinary trends, and industry innovations to continuously enhance the pastry program
  • Support junior pastry staff through mentoring, guidance, and knowledge sharing to foster professional development
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive kitchen environment where collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement are valued

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working as a Pastry Chef in a professional kitchen, hospitality establishment, or fine dining environment
  • Strong proficiency in classical and contemporary pastry techniques, including laminated doughs, choux pastry, meringues, and custards
  • Demonstrated expertise in bakery production, chocolate work, sugar artistry, and plated dessert creation
  • Solid understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and HACCP principles
  • Experience with menu development, food costing, budgeting, and inventory management
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality results
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Creative mindset with enthusiasm for innovation and a passion for culinary excellence
  • Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate diverse guest preferences and dietary requirements
  • Experience in large-scale production or banquet pastry operations is highly desirable
  • Culinary training or relevant certification in pastry arts is preferred
  • Knowledge of local and international cuisines and ingredients is advantageous
  • Resilience and problem-solving abilities to thrive in dynamic kitchen environments
